Nigeria’s Super Eagles delivered a confident and commanding performance in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final clash against Algeria, securing a 2–0 victory to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament in Morocco.
The match was decided in the second half at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, where striker Victor Osimhen opened the scoring with a powerful header shortly after halftime. Osimhen capitalised on a well-placed cross, outjumping Algeria’s defence to give Nigeria the lead. Moments later, he turned provider, assisting Akor Adams who rounded Algerian goalkeeper Luca Zidane before tapping into an open net to make it 2–0. Nigeria dominated the contest, restricting Algeria’s attacking opportunities and controlling the tempo throughout the 90 minutes.
