Morocco completed the group stage of the 2026 CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations with three wins from three matches after defeating Libya 6–0 in Rabat on Friday, 16 October.
The defending champions finished top of Group A, with Soufiane El Mesrar scoring a hat-trick and Othmane Elidrissi adding two goals in the victory at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Hall, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Early goals set the tone
El Mesrar opened the scoring in the third minute and struck again in the eighth. Elidrissi extended the lead in the 12th minute, putting Morocco three goals ahead before the interval.
El Mesrar completed his hat-trick in the 24th minute. Elidrissi scored his second six minutes later, before Bilal Bakkali added Morocco’s sixth goal.
The result maintained the hosts’ unbeaten record in the tournament and secured their place in the semifinals as they pursue a fourth consecutive continental title.
Attention turns to the knockout stage
Morocco’s performance follows earlier group-stage victories, including a 4–0 win over Algeria in their opening match. Their consistent scoring and defensive results have strengthened their position heading into the knockout rounds, although the title remains to be decided.
Elsewhere in the competition, CAF has reported semifinal qualification for Angola, whose João Cambangula scored four times in a 6–0 victory over Tanzania.
