Cairo, Egypt, 29th April 2025 – The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has officially unveiled the Afreximbank Accelerator Program, a transformative three-month initiative designed to empower African entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions to enhance intra-African trade.
The Accelerator Program is seeking visionary founders with scalable technologies addressing critical challenges in cross-border payments, trade finance, and digital commerce platforms. This program aligns with Afreximbank’s broader objectives of unlocking Africa’s trade potential by nurturing and scaling businesses that support the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)—a blueprint for creating a single, integrated market across the continent.

The Accelerator Program aims to equip entrepreneurs with the necessary tools, networks, and investment to transform key sectors such as agriculture, medicine, commodities, mining, logistics, border management, e-commerce, and trade finance.
Participants will engage in a three-month experience combining virtual learning, specialized modules, practical workshops, personalized mentorship, and strategic business support. In addition to the online program, entrepreneurs will attend three in-person sessions at regional hubs, including Afreximbank’s headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, providing valuable opportunities for direct interaction, networking, and collaboration.
A core principle of the program is accelerating business growth through targeted investment and unparalleled market access. Each selected startup will receive up to $250,000 in equity investment, enabling rapid scaling and enhanced impact. Furthermore, participants will gain exclusive access to Afreximbank’s extensive network of government stakeholders, business executives, and multilateral organizations, opening doors to new funding opportunities, partnerships, and strategic alliances.
Entrepreneurs will also benefit from expert mentorship from seasoned professionals with deep expertise in intra-African trade, finance, and industrialization, helping to refine their business models and strengthen their position in the African market. By connecting startups with key decision-makers influencing the continent’s trade and industrial landscape, the program also provides significant industry and policy exposure.
The three-month journey will culminate in a high-profile Demo Day, where participants will showcase their solutions to a global audience of investors, industry leaders, and policymakers, positioning them at the forefront of Africa’s trade revolution.
