The Sweden Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) extends its heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the President elect of the Republic of Ghana, and Vice President elect Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, on their decisive victory in the December 7, 2024 elections.
The chapter also celebrates the remarkable achievements of the NDC parliamentarians who have retained their seats, flipped key constituencies, and secured a commanding majority in Parliament. This significant legislative victory will enable the party to support the President’s vision of resetting Ghana on the path to prosperity and restoring its position as a shining light in Africa.
This triumph is a powerful statement of unity among the NDC grassroots and faithful, both at home and abroad. It reflects the will of the Ghanaian people, who have endured years of economic mismanagement, rampant corruption, and ineffective governance since 2017. NDC Sweden is confident that this new mandate will herald a transformative era for Ghana, strengthening democracy, restoring hope, and positioning the nation for greatness.
As the nation embarks on this new chapter, NDC Sweden looks forward to the implementation of policies such as the 24 hour economy initiative, which is designed to enhance Ghana’s production capacity. This ambitious policy is expected to translate into the creation of more jobs and an improved standard of living for all Ghanaians. It symbolizes the forward-thinking and pragmatic approach needed to drive the nation’s development.
NDC Sweden takes pride in its contribution to this success, having supported the party through resource mobilization, international advocacy, and strategic engagement to amplify the NDC’s message globally. This victory highlights the importance of a united front across both local and diaspora chapters in achieving the party’s objectives.
While celebrating this achievement, NDC Sweden is deeply concerned about reports of violence in some electoral areas, which have led to tragic deaths and injuries among party members. We call on party leadership to work with security services to ensure swift justice for the victims and accountability for the perpetrators.
Moving forward, we encourage the NDC government to prioritize delivering on its promises of economic reform, youth empowerment, job creation, and eradicating corruption. Equally, we urge all political stakeholders to unite for the common good, fostering reconciliation and collaboration to advance Ghana’s development.
We give glory to Almighty God for this resounding victory and urge the party’s leadership to maintain the momentum and deliver on the promises that have rekindled hope among the people of Ghana.
Long live the National Democratic Congress, long live our newly elected President and Vice President, and long live Ghana!
Signed
